Here is an chance here to decongest traffic on east-bound K St and improve ped safety.

When the light is green on northbound 27th street, DDOT could turn on a green "right turn only" arrow on eastbound K St without compromising anyone's safety. (I am referring to the lane where the silver Mercedes is in this picture http://goo.gl/maps/4RNc.)

All other directions including pedestrians are stopped at a red light when NB 27th is green so there would be no intersections of paths.

This would really make life better for the thousands of motorists who leave Georgetown via US-50/I-66.

Would also make it safer for pedestrians crossing 27th St, since they will no longer have to share the pavement with cars turning right off of K st.

The light on K St is currently on 5-10 sec cycle and it really backs up traffic from 4-7pm.
