first you gotta find out where they are and yes it is against the city ordinance to have roosters and chickens. first step is to locate the roosters.

Hate to tell all of you this but under the
Right to
Farm act anyone in any city can own chickens and local laws are void. The only way someone could not keep their animals is if they are pets only, meaning if they sell the eggs, chicks or manure they are protected and chickens are allowed and the city can't not do anything.

I called twice to bldg and safety and they are stil crowing. Sounds like 1 at 798 Third also.

I was wondering where the crowing was coming from? We live on 4th and it is very loud. This needs to be addressed soon. We are having family/friends for the weekend cookouts. Who wants to listen to rooster crowing? I am going to call the number to. Maybe something will happen.

I have called a few times. Talked to a person and I left message. Anyone coming down 3rd street off Arlene can hear them. They are very loud. All you have to do is follow the sound. We dont want company to be subjected to this noise. We are having a cookout to. Please take them away before the weekend.

This brings up a good point. I am sorry to those of you who are losing sleep over this but could a compromise be made? No roosters but city ordinance allowing chickens. Waterford and Royal Oak are doing that. It helps families with food costs. Many cities all over the country allow 4 chickens max and Madison , WI even allows goats. They have free eggs and a chicken now and again ...milk from the goat. I definitely understand not wanting roosters.

...and to be more accurate. Hens should be allowed not roosters. I just called the hens chickens.

To ciity girl, that is fine if you live in the country. Do you want to live near rooster crowiing all the time? All you have to do is come down Arlene and follow the sound. People having company for the holiday and have to be subjected to this. Chickens nor hens are allowed. Even called the mayors office. I called bldg and safety several times but nothing happened.

We do not need hens ,chickens or roosters in our neighborhood. They are all illegal. Have called several times and talked to a person and left messages,. They are being moved around. This noise is awful. Mona is there anything else we can do. Left message at mayor office. Weare having guests this weekend and do not need this in our neighborhood period. Thetare ignoring us like these peoople have all the rights and we are the ones being disturbed. To city girl maybe they can live near you. They belong in the country.

I also mentioned it to a reporter so if someone should knock on some doors over there, fill them in. I'm sure he will hear them before he sees them. FYI - 787 3rd was foreclosed on back in October 2012. The 6 month redemption period is over. The bank should be kicking them out soon (if they're still there).
