I think it would be pretty cool if they did do something with Wilcox Island. I don't think they could really put any structures up due to the flooding but they could make it a park or campground.
If I remember correctly, at one time there was a bridge from Middletown and it was a happening spot where they would hold boxing matches and other stuff.
I would like to know how much of the tax money you would like to use to put in a bridge and to set aside to repair whatever we put there when it floods!
I just thought it would be absolutely amazing if the put a huge feris wheel or something of that nature on this island it could be done with masive concreat structures to support it it would asentualy be a support for a bridge that would be very cool
Like sick of idiots, I am sick of idiots like Sick of Idiots and Ksheehan. Nobody said to put a bridge in. With my former moniker I was merely pointing out the fact that this previously was used for recreational purposes. Why though can't it be turned into a camp spot like Selden Island is further down the river? The state charges a fee for a permit to camp. Middletown could do the same with WIlcox Island. Put a couple of picnic tables out there and voila, you have a destination for people boating. Promoting this as a spot for people to canoe/kayak or just motorboat to could bring in additional people to the Harbor Park area which could help to increase local revenue. Also this could bring more people into Cromwell to use the Mattabassett River trail. More possible consumer dollars for Cromwell too.
alright amigo it was an idea nobody is going to put anything on this island because theres a few bald eagles nest on the island and i never said i wanted to put a bridge on it I said you could build a ferris wheel on the island with masive concreat structures to support it refering to the very same concreat structures that are used to make bridges and i could camp there now infact ive done it before and noone has ever stoped me infact a couple of off duty cops floated on buy on a boat and came on the island and drank six of my beers the only people who are going to give you problems are the EPA and whens the last time you heard anything from them
