Canada Post drops their boxes where ever they want to.
As they are a Federally regulated public service they do not need permission from the municipality.
The good news or bad news depending upon your perspective is that all of the Relay boxes will be removed over the next two years,
Canada Post is shifting to a new delivery system where every Letter Carrier will be mobile and work out of a vehicle so the relay boxes will no longer be required.
Google Street View shows those boxes a bit further east closer to Yonge Street.
I wonder if they were moved for security reasons as they previously obstructed the view of the interior of the Bank of Montreal ?
As the rings here are unobstructed and there are none behind the Canada Post boxes as there were before, this appears resolved and I will close this off now.
