Description
Too many people are flying down English Oak Dr., both residents and non-residents of the Tall Oaks condominiums. People, the speed limit is an enforced 15 mph here, and those stop signs halfway down aren't just there to decorate the roadside. There are kids, pets, and pedestrians that use this road, and the sidewalks are much closer to the throughway than traditional, mature neighborhoods in the area. Many of you respect it, however some of you are turning it into Detroit Dragway, especially at night (there aren't any streetlights). Show more respect please.

There are no 15 MPH signs, and the sidewalks are actually farther from the roadway than in a typical city neighborhood where the speed limit is 25 MPH by standard convention. Furthermore, the former location of the stop signs (only present in one direction currently) is a four-way intersection with what is clearly a more main road and two side roads where it would make much more sense to have the side roads stop and no stop for the through road as is the convention in many, many neighborhoods in SEmich. Furthermore, every driver is automatically bound by the expectation to keep their speed appropriate for conditions. Conditions include not only weather, but also presence of pedestrians or any other conditions. There really is nothing here that actually needs to be fixed other than the complainant's attitude that they'd like to control the behavior of others.
Actually I appreciate the complainant's concerns, however if there is really a problem here then they need to contact the local gendarmes to try to arrange for more enforcement, or find out how to place a mobile radar unit which I imagine log the traffic speed--which would presumably help get enforcement if there is a real problem. If there isn't a problem, it would show that, too. In either case we'd have more than the ramblings of a crotchety neighbor.
