Description
Several (approximately six) oaks were planted (just last year?) in front of the new playground on Bedford Avenue, on the street side of the playground fence (opposite Midwood High School). Several (2-3) of these young oaks are in such poor condition that they require replacement: most of the tree canopy is dead, and what remains is yellowing. This is not drought related: these trees were ailing in the spring of 2010, prior to the summertime drought. It's my understanding that the contractor who planted them is responsible for their care and maintenance for a time following planting. (I'm a certified street tree pruner, so knowledgable about street tree care.)
