[Update] I think the actual problem is that the traffic lights are not centered over each lane. The lights on the right (going straight) are hanging too close to the left-turn lanes.

Motorists on northbound side of Route 9/Merritt Blvd turning into Walmart often mistakenly start turning left into Walmart when northbound light turns green, even though left turn signal is still red for them. It would be less confusing if the left turn signal and northbound signal were synchronized, change to green at the same time. Saw it happen several times, people turning into oncoming traffic while left-turn signal was red. Almost did it myself a few times.
