Definitely an issue here. It's hard to go to this Food Lion and not get eyed up as you park and get asked for money as soon as you get out of the car. Some of them stay in the woods behind Food Lion/Lodge America and many of them will tell you that in their story when asking for money.
Homeless persons residing on Habitat for Humanity's property (located off Mayflower Dr. & Pine Knoll Rd.) have been reported as an issue but Habitat for Humanity has not forced them off the property. Sadly, the pan handling and dumpster digging are offshoots of that unaddressed issue.
They are HOMELESS...i know it does not look good, but its reality. These people have no other means to survive. Have you ever been homeless. Dont callthe police on them...Heres a clue...help em out!
Absolutely, positively do not help them out if they are asking for money in the parking lot. Raleigh has homeless resources and this type of behavior should not be enabled. Notify the store manager and call the police if approached.
simple - edit North Carolina General Statutes § 14-34.4 to allow Supermarkets and Restaurants to give away with PROOF OF WARNING OF POSSIBLE DANGER food that would otherwise be thrown out, thus making those Supermarkets and Restaurants that can PROVE they GAVE WARNING IMMUNE FROM CIVIL AND CRIMINAL LIABILITY !! (thus making DUMPSTER DIVING FOR FOOD UNNECESSARY)

Well apparently these people are not getting these resources, If so they would not have a need to do this, Some people in dire straits don't know what to do and there is not enough awareness or compassion to guide them or help them. I wish all the people sitting in their warm homes with refrigerators full of food can experience homelessness just once in their lives. Its no joke. Dont call the police on them. Educate them. Dont you think they have enough to worry about without people making things worse on them. Granted there are some out there who may be taking advantage, but thats not your call to make. The ones who are not are suffering for for it. Have some faith in your fellow man. These people need a break, not more stress pile on top of them. They are trying to fig themselves out of a hole.Sometime a hand to help them do that is needed and there nothing wrong with trying to do that for someone. Maybe one day you might need that hand to reach back to you, Think about that. NO one is immune, Some are just closer than others,
