Thanks for looking into this. I am the person who posted this issue and I've personally done grinding of concrete, so I am aware of the solution proposed. I am surprised grinding was recommended since the substantial "heave" has actually made the ground under the concrete visible. If it is ground down to level, a hole would develop which would then call for a patch (which seems a short-term solution.)
I am happy to post photo of the finished product and let others determine if it was an adequate solution.
