Description

Location - traveling north on Midland between St. Clair and Danforth. Police park in the CN workyard access road on the east side of Midland.

Concern - speed trap with one or two police cars, sometimes up to three or four hours a day, anytime of the day and most days of the week, including Sunday morning. This started last summer.

On this stretch of Midland the speed is 50 km. The problem is that cars need to go down a hill which runs under the railway overpass, and then they need to accelerate to go up the hill - only to find the police waiting there with radar.

I am not sure why this stretch of road is posted as 50 km as there does not appear to be a safety concern - the sidewalks are not level with the road, there are no access points for other vehicles until you reach the top of the hill where the police are parked, and there are no schools in this location.

I requested a speed sign be posted on this stretch when I noticed the radar trap. Prior to my request there was no sign posted once you headed north from St. Clair. The sign was put up last fall.
