This is a state route and the Georgia DOT maintains traffic signs on state routes. The GDOT also establishes speed limits on state routes. I will forward your comment to the GDOT and let you know what I find out after I hear back from them.

The GDOT has replied that the issue has been forwarded to their local maintenance office.

Just a follow up...I have requested an update from the Georgia DOT as to when we may expect a replacement speed limit sign to be installed. I will post a response here when I hear from them.

I have confirmed that there was no 55 mph sign at the location you indicated as far back as October 2012. If you want more information, I suggest you contact the GDOT office in LaGrange, 706.845.4115.
