After bringing this to the Village of Menands' attention about a year ago, nothing has changed. Drivers in the driving (left) lane better be alert for drivers in the merge (right ending) lane who use it as a passing lane and speed up along the right side to get ahead. When traveling this road I'm coming from Albany and driving in the left (driving) lane. I've had several close calls here. My understanding of driving in a merged lane is that the driver entering the driving lane from a merging lane is supposed to do so when it's safe, not speed ahead and cut off the drivers in the driving lane. I don't know why the police never seem to issue tickets for this sort of dangerous driving.
