Description
#'s: 42, 43, 58, 66 William St have sidewalk cut outs for trees that need filling. Can we request trees for these spaces? With the close proximity to the highway, any additional trees will help filter sounds and filter the air.
I am a neighbor on the adjoining street who can help with watering if needed, but hope that there are folks on William St who would be willing to help water the new trees over the summer. These spots are also adjacent to the William St Community Garden, so with some collaboration, the trees might also be able to be watered by folks from the garden with their hoses?
Thank you.

Dear Neighbors,
URI will be planting trees around New Haven based on where SeeClickFix users want them. While Wooster Square is know for our trees, there are still bare spots on blocks less traveled, and I encourage you to think beyond our neighborhood borders to other parts of New Haven you frequent for this project as well.
Here's what to do:
Anywhere you see a spot you think could be improved by the planting of a tree, report it! You even get say in what kind of tree you want.
Tell your neighbors about it
Help out yourself: get a tree near your house! All you have to do is water it once a week while it has leaves (May to October)
SeeClickFix is excited about this project and would really love your help with this--it's a really great, free project to beautify New Haven.

Thanks, SaraJ! Folks that want trees need to sign up on this online form (see link below) so that URI has contact information to communicate with requesters about tree location and species. It also explains the watering and tree care commitment again. http://environment.yale.edu/uri/get-involved/plant-your-own-tree/
We'd like to plant these trees, but we can't until we have the names and contact info for tree requesters. Thanks!

Hi Anna-
Thanks for the link. I didn't cite the above letter properly; it is from the Wooster Sq Watch chairperson. It was sent to the neighborhood list serve last week. There must be a missing link here somewhere as to the link with Seeclickfix and the URI form since the letter encourages neighbors to look for areas beyond the scope of the neighborhood/home.
I am aware of the website and used the form for a spot next to my house.
I am not sure I should fill out four separate forms for trees that would be around the corner from my house?
Thank you again.

It sounds like that might be doable. There were some inaccuracies in the letter from the Wooster Sq block organizer - basically SCF is meant to be used as suggested areas for new trees and doing exactly this- getting neighbors interested in making the request.
So, if you want to make the request, that would be great! You can be in touch at the season if you are moving and need to coordinate another person to water. Does that sound reasonable?

We have also requested stump removal in the tree square on Osborn (the street across from the community garden) to have a tree put in, you can vote for the fix here: http://seeclickfix.com/issues/504151-stump-needs-to-be-removed
We'd love to see William and Osborn completely tree-lined again, and will water wherever to help out.

Thanks for supporting this. The history here is that URI has approved the sites, and were (are?) waiting for official stewards.
(I created this 'issue' before it was clear that a request involved 25 gallons of water/week/tree, which I can't do from Lyon St.)
Aaron Goode contacted them, but I don't know if he agreed to be the official steward of all or any of the trees. There was some confusion that I am the steward, but want to clarify clear that I am not. It's not feasible from this distance, but we do have support from the Community Garden folks as well.
No response from the alderman or folks with the Bradley St beautification project.
Perhaps Aaron can chime in here, or an email to URI? My last message inquiring about it did not get a reply.
