Description
People use this ally as an actual road. Drivers are always cutting through going 30-40mph almost hitting pets/children. For the people who live in this ally and are trying to pull out of their garages, it is impossible to see cars coming from both directions. This ally needs to be turned back into a one-way or there needs to be mirrors put up along the ally so drivers can safely pull out of their garages. Also a speed limit sign of 10-15mph needs to be placed along the ally.

1) The police and/or parking monitors should be forcing delivery trucks to use these alleys for their intended purpose. People shouldn't have to slalom between three double-parked vehicles along their four-block journey down Gay St.
2) Drivers should have enough sense and courtesy not to use these alleys as through streets. (e.g. When a church function lets out, a pilgrimage through the alley kicks off.) So, when sense and courtesy aren't adequate, we need to make rules. How about some 'No THRU TRAFFIC SIGNS' ?

functions letting out etc. This can be resolved several ways. Post a "do not enter" sign. "local deliveries only" 2. Make the alley one way going West bound. 3. Putting in speed bumps. Another problem frankly is that people are living in converted carriage houses in the alley which were originally garages for the houses on Chestnut st. Permitting this was not a good idea and really trying to live on this alley does not make much sense. This occurred through illegal conversions some years back so it is hard to have much sympathy for residents back there. It was not intended to be a residential neighborhood.
