At the south end of the southbound side of King subway station, there is an escalator that takes passengers from the platform to street level. 30% of the time, the escalator is not put into service and no reason is provided. I assume someone forgot to turn it on? Not having the escalator run is an accessibility challenge for some users. Moreover, a stationary escalator provides an opportunity for people to enter the subway without paying.
