I beg to differ. In earlier times, there was no Marino Crane and it was all woods, hills and water. It may not have been a park, but it was a far cry from the rusty, dusty crane haven of today. The area was called Mill Hollow and it used to be closed off for sledding in the winter.
More importantly, I continue to urge for our city to enact a blight ordinance. I don't expect my version of beauty to be followed, but I do hope for cleanliness and some semblance of appearance for all our neighborhoods.

Also, it doesn't help when people are putting piles of brush out in front of their homes and letting it sit there for weeks or months.

I totally agree with you.
This city needs a blight ordinance. For one thing, grafitti is tolerated. Require owners of property with grafitti to remove it in a timely manner.

Buildings like the ones opposite Amazing Grace on Main St. extension are shabby introductions to our Main Street.

Thank you, Jon Irwin. I will contact you tomorrow. However, kindly allow me to correct your statement that the area was a town dump. It clearly was not a sanctioned town dump and if there was illegal dumping, it was off Mill Street and not visible to those entering Ridge Road! My family has lived on this street for over 80 years and we're pretty familiar with Mill Hollow and its surrounds.
I hope that we can reach some agreement on this issue. Would you want this to be on the street where you live or would you want it to look better? I appreciate what businesses have to do to survive, but I am only asking for something that will beautify the area and make Marino Crane's site more in keeping with the residential qualities of Ridge Road. Thank you again, and I will be talking with you.

Marino Crane has stepped up. They have cleaned the intersection of Mill and Ridge and are installing a fence. Thank you to Jon Irwin who listened, and even more impressively, acted on his words. I would love to have Marino Crane continue to beautify where the trucks enter either via a tall gate or some framing trees that hide the entry. Regardless, Marino Crane has my respect and appreciation for their efforts. Thank you and keep up the good work to keep Ridge Road a nice residential street.
P.S. I still think the city fathers should be working on a blight ordinance to have some power over buildings that are empty and in total disrepair (see Main St Ext!!!).

I drove by this area today, and it looks like Marino Crane is putting in a new stockade fence along the Ridge Rd/Mill St corner. I give these guys credit for doing something. There are a lot worse properties to look at in Middletown, the buildings just up the road on the Main St extension for example, who wouldn't give a crap. Most respectable companies will try to make their business area look decent!

Regardless, I wanted everyone to know how responsive Marino Crane has been in this matter and how grateful Ridge Road residents are.
