Just Came back from the train station an got this nice little photo.
New Haven Traffic and Parking, when you created the signs that told people which way to go to the train station did you also create signs that said no Handi-cap access. They're now needed apparently.
Crosswalks are not break areas for having doughnuts and coffee while pedestrians have to walk around police cruisers avoiding being hit by traffic. Have some consideration for the public. Wearing a badge does not mean you can do whatever you want. The odasity of the NHPD. What a shame.
I have to disagree with everyone on this topic, specially Benitez comments about the doughnuts and the coffee or the other comment made by juli about pure laziness. The only way to resolve this situation is if the city of new haven provides sufficient parking spaces for the NHPD employees. The parking lot across from 1 union ave was used for many years as an extra lot for employees to park but amtrack decided to take over that lot for their own selfish purposes. Before you speak know the facts behind the picture.
After three years of negotiations, the City and Tower One/Tower East have agreed to a parking swap that will add 25-30 secure parking spots near the police station for officers' personal vehicle use. Combined with re-ordering around the station, we hope this will significantly improve the parking situation in the area. Police command staff intend to enforce against vehicles blocking cross-walks, parked in handicapped spaces, etc.
I am closing this issue now. The parking situation is improved, but not perfect, so there might still be issues. I encourage people to report any that occur on SCF as a new issue, but I am closing issues that pre-date these changes so we will be able to identify any problem correctly.
Thank you, Rob. II there is a new parking scheme I agree that it makes sense to re-open issues when the crosswalks are blocked. These will remain archived for anyone to refer to.

The location is Union ave and West Water Street to be clear.

Crosswalks and sightlines (typically marked as no parking areas) must be kept free at all times - otherwise, people's lives are put at risk.

those photos speak of pure laziness.
i hate that the nhpd behave as though they are above the law.
SET AN EXAMPLE. no wonder so many people in this city seem to disregard the laws; who is there to look up to?
