I beg to differ. I posted an issue a couple days ago about an unshoveled sidewalk which posed a serious safety threat to everyone who walks around my neighborhood, and the sidewalk has now been cleared sufficiently that my small daughter and I were able to walk to school this morning without having to walk in the street. The path isn't wide enough for a wheelchair I admit but it is a damned sight better than it was, and I call that progress.
While this site may make a difference neighbor to neighbor, it is a waste of time when the city is involved in the solution. Therefore I stand by my conviction this is a "feel good" site.
I received a reply from a man named Sergio Rodriguez who stated he'd reported the problem to Public Works and if it was not resolved to call him. Two days later I called him and after identifying my address he said it was not in his area. He then advised me to call Michelle Duprez who is responsible for Handicap problems in a downtown office. He then proceeded to tell me about his physical problems (which I won't go into). I can't see how I need to go through several city "officials" for what should be a simple procedure. I might add..the city raised my assessment on my house $99,000.00 in their last re-assessment. This because we live in "Affluent" East Rock!! Tell me why I should not be bitter. And to answer your question..No..nothing has happened.
I just sent an email to our alderman, Doug Hausladen. This is unacceptable. I personally asked him at our block watch meeting on the 20th to make sure you were helped.
