Description

Could you see about getting stop signs installed at the intersection of New Jersey Ave SE and I (Eye) Street NE. Currently there is a stop sign at the I (Eye Street) intersection (heading east) but no stop signs for cars heading north/south along NJ Ave SE.

With increased foot traffic from Nationals Park (fans heading to and from Capitol Hill South Metro Station) this intersection (despite pedestrian cross walk markings on the streets) is becoming an increasing dangerous place to cross. Vehicles travel exceedingly fast along NJ Ave and it is only a matter of time before someone could be seriously hurt/injured by the speeding cars or even cars traveling at normal speed. At night it is especially dangerous because the street lighting along this route is not very good either.

As a NATS season ticket holder I use this route to walk to about half the home games.

Any efforts that your office could do to fix a dangerous intersection would be most appreciated.

Thank you for your time and consideration of this matter.

p.s. I also sent this e-mail to Councilman Wells on 6/11/10.
