Description
As serious transportation, bicycles must use the same roads cars use. Sheridan is a natural north south corridor in Westminster but has no lanes for cycles, has high speed traffic. Sidewalks are bad places for bikes (driveways, right turners, erupted slabs, curbs, blind entries) but once in a while serve to escape the traffic. Not on Sheridan where the sidewalk is littered with debris and disrepair.

We have the same problem all over the Denver area. The bigger problem is, "Do you really want a bike lane on such a busy road?" I have taken to using side routes that parallel the busier streets just for increased safety. In Westminster, Lowell pretty much parallels Sheridan, but, for shorter trips, Bradburn is a good choice, too. Those streets are 30 mph, and less traveled as compared to 40 mph, and frequently traveled.
Adding bike lanes to a busy street isn't likely to make the ride any safer. Instead, it would probably make it more dangerous for all.
