drug sales out of cars on Eld ST is Archived 5 People want this fixed

we've noticed a recent development on Eld St, with regular 2-car drug deals happening in the late afternoon. Two cars arrive quickly, park, do their transaction, and then swiftly leave.

It's happening pretty much every other day, between 4-5 pm, outside the Worthington Hooker school entrance at the State St end of the road.

The dealing car is a small 4-door black car, Subaru or Hyundai, with (stolen) CT plates, 968 PEF.

I wondered if you had noticed similar behaviour on your streets as well? If so, Lt Sweeney recommends NO contact with the vehicle, and suggests calling the Police Non-Emergency number -- although frankly by the time I get through, they're usually long gone. The NHPD is keen to get a better description of the car, in any case. Information can also be sent directly to John Velleca, head of Narcotics, at jvelleca@newhavenct.net

Apparently this is the latest style and is happening all over the city -- although in broad daylight, outside a school when the kids are sometimes still being picked up??

These guys are regular as clockwork. They were here at 4.05 pm yesterday afternoon, slightly earlier at 3.43pm today. Shouldn't be that hard to catch them in the act! It was the same vehicle as usual - small black 4 door, CT plates 968 PEF. Today's customers were in a dark gold SUV, and a red pick-up with cardboard boxes in the back. They left in a tire-squealing hurry -- this is a street-calming issue as well as a drug traffic one.

Just compared notes with our neighbors: it seems there are two dealers using the street. They've noticed a silver-blue Honda Accord, young white male driver, making deals around the same time of day. The driver of the black car is a 20-something Hispanic man with a goatee, a very round face, and a diamond earring in his left ear.

t- take notes, especially times and car plate numbers (if you can do so inconspicuously), call the police every time you see it happening, establish a pattern, and make sure Lt Velleca hears about it: jvelleca@newhavenct.net It worked for us, and I hope it works for you!
