SECTION 8 VOUCHER REVOKED!!
For the first time ever, New Haven Housing Authority finally has decided to follow HUD guidelines and revoke the Section 8 voucher of tenant at 299 Greenwich Ave due to persistent gun & drug arrests at this address. (Unfortunately, this is NOT a guarantee that they’ll be moving: if they continue to pay rent with their OWN money the landlord can continue to keep them there—in which case, our next step is to go after the landlord.)
SO HOW WAS THIS ACCOMPLISHED? Because YOU, dear neighbors, were willing to keep the police updated about the illegal activity taking place at 299 so that a HISTORY of police reports and arrests could be accumulated. IF THERE’S NO OFFICIAL RECORD OF COMPLAINTS, ETC. THEN POLICE & HOUSING CAN DO NOTHING. I especially want to thank “Tammy” (whoever you really are) who first reported this problem on SeeClickFix, as well as the NUMEROUS neighbors who anonymously kept police informed.
If & when this vermin finally vacates 299 could someone please post it here OR send me an email: schaeferchristopher@yahoo.com I think there should be a Block Party to celebrate!
And if anyone else thinks they’re going to set up a drugs & guns business on Greenwich Ave, you better look elsewhere. GREENWICH AVE** DOESN’T** PUT** UP** WITH** ANY** SH__T !!!
