Description
SeeClickFix helped to get 'No Smoking" signs in place at Moore Sq bus station. Before the signs went up I asked a "Special Police" guy why he wasn't writing citations for people who weren't following the no smoking ordinance the City of Raleigh and Raleigh Transit enacted Jan 2nd. He said he couldn't write citations until there were signs. While I was there for a short 20 minutes this afternoon SIX people were smoking. NO security people were anywhere to be found. Why is this ordinance being ignored??? I'm not the only person who is baffled by this.

I have sent this to the Public Works Department, Transit Division for review, I will update the issue once I hear back from them.

Thanks.
I'm not kidding. This morning a woman was sitting on a bench right under the "No Smoking" sign, you guessed it, smoking away. This afternoon another woman was doing the same thing while the 'police' sat in their car. Why aren't they actually walking up and down patrolling?

I hope the new Police Chief will continue to emphasize getting the officers walking the streets or riding bikes. Even riding scooters would be helpful. What is the reason they are not citing the illegal smokers? Thanks.

Public Works - Transit Division has reported all signage was installed two weeks ago, active enforcement by CAT Security and by the Raleigh Police Department is occurring. Staff will ensure that the security personnel are visible and enforcing the new no smoking ordinance as aggressively as possible. Thanks for reporting this issue to us!
