Snow plows are designed to push the snow off to the side—and have worked this way since they were pulled with horses. Most people north of the Carolinas understand that this means that the ends of driveways will get filled by the plow and then have to be dug out. If you want to save yourself extra work, wait until the plows have cleaned the street completely before doing the end of your driveway. If that's not an option (e.g. because you need to get the work) then most folks simply expect they'll have to re-do the end of their driveway.
