Right turns on red are illegal in many other nations and cities. They invariably cause danger, particularly for pedestrians who are trying to cross concurrently with signals, but also for drivers and cyclists who may simply be passing through a green light and/or turning at the same intersection.

If you walk or bicycle frequently in New Haven, you recognize that this is a major life-threatening issue (especially if you have a physical disability and are slow at walking). I think that RTOR should be banned throughout all central areas of New Haven.

Unfortunately there will be even more user conflicts when they run Farmington Canal Phase IV through here

Ah yes, the notorious Olive Street leg of the trail, the only street Wooster Square residents won't bike on. -- You'll take it and you'll like it.

"Farmington Canal Phase IV" should extend only to Orange or State Street. The rest of the plan should wait until there is enough money for the city to do it right (i.e. with proper traffic calming and intersections that are safe for children) the first time.
