Description
I have a question about the intersection of Western Ave., Madison Ave., and Allen St. in Albany.
Cars traveling north on Allen St, attempting to turn left onto Western, and cars traveling south on Allen St., attempting left turns onto Western and Madison sit in the short intersection, unable to turn, and also blocking traffic going straight through the intersection in either direction on Allen St.
When the traffic light changes, allowing east/west traffic, the only way to clear the intersection is for the cars stalled there to proceed against the signal. At times of heavy traffic, this causes a major tie-up.
Is there nothing that can be done to make traffic flow more smoothly through this intersection?
I don't know how many accidents are reported there, but I have witnessed many close calls.
