The city did a great job repaving Carroll Drive. Unfortunately, the repaved street is now a speedway. I regularly observe vehicles traveling 40-50 mph on this street, which is a 25 mph zone. The homes in this area have many families with young children who are put at risk by these speeders.

In the past I have called, (of course I used the 911 line well after 10pm and before learning there was a non-emergency number) and was told they would send an officer to "check it out". I did see a city PD vehicle within the ...hour... do a drive by? I am left to wonder, exactly when does speeding become an emergency? When someone is hurt or kiled? Or when a random coincidential observation is made by a peace officer?
I personally don't have pets loose or small children at home, but I do have neighbors, some of them elderly, that walk their pets and just just take a walk as I often do... If you ever ponder the reasons behind some folks not picking up after their pets when they walk them,,, stop to consider that they probably value their lives far too much than to take a change to stoop over and collect after them for fear some idiot with a license to speed will take them out in the process!
