NHPD - could we please get some serious traffic enforcement in Fair haven and the Heights? It's like a free-for-all out here! We need red light cameras, too. Also, think of all the guns and drugs that are probably in the cars of these aggressive drivers, speeding around like they own the city. I will keep posting, too. This is community policing in action!

I'm tired of this happening, too. And no, I am not a bad driver or going under the speed limit.
Passing on the RIGHT is another huge problem.
When the city budget allows for it, I'm all for installing traffic cameras for speeding and red lights at every possible intersection. Only offenders of the law should be opposed to this.

Hi - as this incident can not be fixed should we close it and open one that calls for speed guns here or is that the fix on this issue?
Thanks

Sounds like the car that almost hit me as a pedestrian. Driver was female and blonde. Wonder if same car?
You should NEVER pull over if you are having problems with someone behind you. EVER! It puts your safety at risk. If you pull over you are entrapping yourself and increasing a risk of road rage.
The trick is to slow down and turn down a different road. Yes you are going out of your way but you will be safer. If the car follows you, head right to a police station or fire station.

Passed today headed east on Edgewood by a Black Chevy SUV, Tahoe or Suburban, CT license plate 190WCT, over the double yellow line.
I'm so sick of this. No other place I've been (outside the third world) has this ego-centric disregard for traffic laws like New Haven.

I hear ya V. Heres my recent story!
Driving down Whalley towards downtown from CVS/DatonStreet/Hess in Westville. Car behind me was a beige little car, driver was dark skin - gold decked out, manicured, hair done, skinny chick. Thankfully no kids in the car. Miss Impatient decides she wants to ignore the coned area along Whalley where there is construction goin on - drives in the empty lane that is coned off to bypass a line of traffic. Got to CVS and it was blocked off - so she had to get back over and a female cop had to approach her to help her back in line (cop was obvoiusly dumbfoudned). Did this stop her? Of course not.
So we continue down the road and come up on the little village on Whalley in Westville - the whole time shes riding my arse. I end up getting the light right at Delany's and stop - so does she. What does she do? Remember, this is a double lined area. She goes AROUND ME, runs the red light to go where? DUNKIN DONUTS!!!! There were people starting to cross the street too! All of that mess to go buy some coffee and donuts - are you serious!?!??!
We need cameras installed in CT. I dont normally agree with that but here in CT, DEFINITELY!

I got passed again on Edgewood today. If I go less than 35 it seems that this is normal behavior here.
New Haven has taught me the left on red, right on red from the left lane (with a no turn on red sign), and to look both ways before crossing Ella T Grasso (in my car!).

i have been wondering if there is an appropriate venue for citizens to discuss their issues with enforcement directly with the NHPD.
does anyone know about this?

The illegal passing is still a major problem in this area. Speeding is also an issue.
Many private citizen requests have gone into the NHPD for more detailed enforcement data (e.g., giving types and times, not just absolute numbers which can include things like DUI stops) but I haven't heard of any successful requests yet.
Would the management team be willing to draft up a formal request?

Wow, you couldn't possibly be busier than me. Really. I just care about where I live and the safety of myself and those around me, and would NEVER pass someone like that or run a red light or drive aggressively. It sounds like you are trying to make yourself feel better about your own bad behavior. You are the one wasting time.
