Description
A new and growing homeless camp has developed in the last couple weeks below the 24 freeway and BART tracks on 42nd Street. It is now completely obstructing the south sidewalk and there is debris on the north sidewalk as well. There are several tents, cooking equipment, pallets, large boxes, and waste.

Dear Concerned Citizen:
Thank you for your request for service regarding the homeless encampments and illegal dumping. Unfortunately the City of Oakland was closed from December 21, 2012 through January 2, 2013. As a result, we now have 500 open service requests to abate illegal dumping and homeless encampments. We have added extra staff and are working overtime and weekends to catch up. We thank you in advance for your continued patience and support as we work through requests for homeless encampments and illegal dumping.
Sincerely,
City of Oakland, Public Works Agency
