Description

I am a student here at Queens University of Charlotte, and I use the crosswalk to get to my class and the parking lot were I park, I know that there is a yellow caution light button that we can push to slow traffic when crossing, but there a problem people do not stop when students are crossing the street. When a student or myself pushes the button cars just run through the light and sometimes students or morning runners would have to wait until there is no one there before we could cross. At one time a person got hit at the crosswalk because a car didn't stop. There is a sign (two of them) in the middle of the road that is bright yellow that states :State Law Must yield to pedestrains, but not everyone does. Another thing that the parking on the side of the road is a reason why traffic needs to stop at the caution light. When you have SUV or trucks that are parked on the right side of the road, students and runners are not able to see if there are car coming or not, believe it or not people are not going the speed limited and that is a danger to us as well. I would like to see a RED stop light there so that when students or runners push that button drivers will know you need to STOP, not slow down or keep going, but STOP. I hope that you can look into this problem and fix it, just before writing this letter to you I almost got hit this morning because I thought this car was going to stop and he didn't along with three other cars and a city trash truck. Please help the students at Queens.
