This road had been dangerous for years. Trying to avaiod the road damage has become as dangerous as the road damage itself. This road is an embarassment.
Denton Road is a nightmare! The Skidmore students drive it at speeds that far exceed the posted limits. The Town of Greenfield has heard many, many times that this road is a tragedy waiting to happen. The severity was noted to Congressman Murphy recently, who not only agreed, but said he "would get the ball rolling". As of this writing, we (the neighbors on Denton) haven't heard a thing. Do we always have to be reactive? Lets get this road fixed before someone dies.
Mina blames the Skidmore kids for everything. Maybe the 100 school buses that travel the road each day cause a problem or the crappy construction greenfield used to build the road in the first place could b e a problem.
at least Mina puts his name out there...cowards do not.
There have been 2 instances of (lets say) college students who have DRIVEN off Denton Road at high speeds. Need more?
Lets stick with the issue and rebuild the road, eh?
trider?..Wonder who you might be? Are you scared of conventional dialog?
Your silly reply is mind numbing. Call me what you will, but impugning the folks at Prestwick confirms your disdain for all but yourself. If you don't realize the problems on Denton and simply want to 'attack' those that want it rebuilt, you are a fool. ...Your rambling is proof that your fingers work before they are engaged by your brain...
The south side of Denton Road is in Saratoga and the north side in Greenfield. The residents have been promised for years that they were next on the paving and repair list. Now they don't even bother talking to us. The powers that be in both communities should be ashamed of the grossly deteriorated condition of the road. There are 300 taxpayers living on the 2-mile stretch of Denton Road. We don't have the option of taking an alternate route. Meanwhile other roads will have been paved a second time while we wait, and wait, and wait.
I drive and walk on this road year round, and anyone who thinks the speeders are Skidmore kids isn't paying attention. Even when the students are gone, speeders abound in spite of the condition of the road. My suggestions to anyone who bikes or walks along this stretch are simple: 1) walkers- walk on the left side of the road facing traffic and move onto the grass every time a vehicle comes along; 2) bikers- follow all traffic laws and be sure to bike with traffic..... realize of course, that there is NO shoulder on this road, many drivers speed on Denton, and many of those drivers don't really like you. My suggestions to drivers: 1) Most of you use this road as a short-cut..... please admit that and at least slow down. The posted speed is 40 mph, but even that modest speed is unsafe because of the terrible condition of the road. The problem is not Skidmore kids or Prestwick residents...... it is YOU! And my suggestion to the Greenfield and Saratoga officials responsible for this debacle is to keep your promises to the residents who live along this road. Two years ago when the Prestwick residents waged a nice, rational protest and attended board meetings, you "yessed" and "promised" them to death. Now is the time to cut the BS and actually do something.
