Description
The timed walk signal is too short at the intersection of Battery and Pearl Streets - by the time you get into the middle of the street, it turns from walk to a flashing hand sign. I would add that there should be a No Turn on Red sign for drivers entering Battery / Park Street from Pearl. Too often drivers make a right on red even though the walk signal is on. This might prevent that from happening. Drivers on Battery turning right onto Pearl are not allowed to turn on Red. Thank you.

This whole intersection needs attention. I've been very nearly pegged off a number of times as cars race to make the red light or can't figure out that two of the three northbound lanes on Battery St. are right-turn only. Perhaps change will come with the Champlain Parkway project?
Closed Code Enforcement
The walk signal was evaluated today by Code Enforcement. We found the walk signal, White light does say on for a short period however the red light flashes a countdown. The countdown provides a 10 second flashing warning indicating it is no longer safe to start crossing. If pedestrians begin crossing with the walk signal, the 10 second countdown should be sufficient to finish crossing.
The light appears to be working as designed. We will make a referral of the suggestion to the Department of Public Works. The suggestion for a "no right turn on red" sign will be included. Please call DPW customer service with any follow-up suggestions. They can be reached at 863-9094.
Any comments added in the next 7 days will also be included in the referral.
Burlington Police will also receive the information for their evaluation of targeted enforcement at this intersection.
The Code Enforcement aspect of this issue is resolved, so we will close the issue and forward comments to the appropriate departments. Thank you.

Thank you for checking it out. So, what is the total crossing time? It just seems short compared to the other cross signals I come across along Battery Street (at Cherry or at College) are far longer, yet that Battery / Pearl intersection seems busier.
Is it a total of 10 seconds, or is it more like 15 seconds? I don't have much of a problem with the timing, but I'm an able-bodied adult, but for someone with a small child or an elderly person, I've seen the light be tough to make for them before hitting a don't walk signal. Especially since people turning from Pearl Street onto Battery / Park can be a aggressive and often ignore people crossing. The No Right on Red addition my help. Again, thank you for looking into it.

The total time is about 15 seconds to cross. The first 5 give you the walk signal to start crossing. The remaining 10 second are on a countdown from 10 down to 1 before the solid don't walk signal illuminates.
The attached photo shows the countdown at 8 seconds remaining to cross.
