People drive on Brightwood like it's a highway. Speeding is terrible on this road.
i agree i live on brightwood also , how about some boys in blue enforcing the stop sign at the corner of brightwood and winthrop that would be great
I am waiting for one of the kids that live here to get hit...some of them ride their skateboards or scooters down towards Rt 4 smack in the middle of the road and cars coming onto Brightwood from Rt 4 take that corner excessively....its a matter of time. This is a residential street and folks driving through treat it like a raceway. Yrs ago I asked for a traffic/speed sign to be randomly placed to record the traffic speeds and it was denied.
What might be the outcome from several pairs of good citizens reporting specifics to the police? Having the reports notarized would not hurt the effort.
The report might include photographs of the vehicles and license plate of the vehicles of those that fail to stop at the STOP sign or drive dangerously by speeding or driving on the left side of the road when failing to properly negotiate a right-hand turn at the proper speed. The report would look something like a ship's log citing date, time, description of the incident and photograph number, and names of at least two citizens making the report.
Little or no action could, or would be taken. It would be up to the officers to take it INTO ACCOUNT, but it could not be used as any sort of evidence. It's always a good idea to be visible. Show the speeders that they're being watched, and that maybe someone IS reporting it to the police, but the materials themselves would be of little consequence.
You are most probably correct...the words rolled when I saw others sharing my concerns re the speeding.
WRT the reply to my "click-it & log-it" comment, I had in mind providing the report(s) to office that is responsible for setting the speed limit, etc. on the roadway in question. Also, The Register Citizen may be so moved after reading several reports that an OpEd or by-line article might stir more citizens to raise their voice of concern about the violation of public safety.
WRT to the (public safety) officers, the reports (logs and pictures) could provide the basis for increasing the time and resources deployed against this troublesome, dangerous traffic/public safety situation.
