Description
Traffic that want to enter I-95 Southbound from Grasso Blvd has to use the same lane as traffic exiting on Exit 44. The lane is very, very short (about 100 yds length). In that tiny lane, entering and exiting traffic have to fight, merge, and weave to get to their destination. Very dangerous situation. A solution would be to get rid of southbound Exit 44 altogether. All it does is shuttle traffic in one direction down Kimberly Ave toward West Haven. Why can't that traffic use Exit 45, and take a left onto Kimberly Ave to reach the same destination. So what if it'll create extra congestion in the intersection of Kimberly and Grasso Blvd. I rather have that, than to risk my life in that dangerous lane on I-95

The entire Kimberly Avenue Bridge, from Water St. in West Haven to the McDonalds in New Haven is a dangerous mess. The speeding and cutting across lanes by drivers trying to get on and off the highway is out of control; in addition, many pedestrians and cyclists use this bridge as it is one of the few connections between New Haven and West Haven. It needs immediate attention.

horrible mess. the Kimberly Ave. exit should be straightened out to a T intersection with Kimberly, so that cars will have to come to a complete stop. The current configuration has zero consideration of pedestrians or cyclists heading West on Kimberly. In addition, the underpass is a nasty, ugly, dirty, threatening environment - the sidewalks are covered in broken glass and sand and there is no curb cut on the Western end of the bridge (North side) another debacle brought to you by the CT DOT - building 1950's road network today.

You also have the problem with the Sargent Drive entrance onto I-95 southbound that has to cross into a lane being used for traffic exiting 95 on Exit 45 onto the Boulevard ... an exit lane that continuing traffic can't seem to navigate and move out of until the last minute ... sometimes driving into the shoulder area!! BAD DESIGN ... ACCIDENTS WAITING TO HAPPEN!!!!!
