Why fix it, these kid should be using the buses that we pay for with our tax dollars. Driving these kids to school is a waste of energy.

There are over 200 parents or adults dropping kids off at Maple school each day. Many of those kids who get dropped off can ride the bus. The only time an adult should be bringing a kid to school is because the kid is late or excused late.

Ride the bus. That's a service your tax dollars provide.

Huh? I've never had kids, and even I know your comment is ill thought out. What about the employees? Volunteers? Parents who are picking up sick children, or dropping off children with legal excuses?

I NEVER have reason to go to the Middle School yet I want a light here. Its called "Common Sense". Try it.

First, I feel sorry for the bus drivers, who are I think are NOT heading out for coffee but off to pick up another load of kids.
Second, I do agree too many people drive their kids to school.
But third, I have had to drive a kid there (cello) and it was awful.
And now, just trying to pass the school on the way to work, I feel WE NEED A LIGHT! Where? At the end where the buses pull out, or at the main entrance? Not sure.

I completely agree there should be a light there. People that feel kids should ride the bus, I also agree, our tax dollars pay for it. Reality is that there are times when we NEED to bring our kids to school. Having traffic backed up past the firehouse is rediculous. Having a light (even if used just while school is in session) could help, but what about a turning lane? If there were a turning lane, traffice would flow much better.

when is the town or city going to address this - you cannot take a left off smith bridge from 8:30-9am. Now that this has been reported, don't they have a legal obligation to do something before a tragedy?

This issue can be resolved by the middle school principle requesting a traffic control light from the department of transportation (State D.O.T.) You should go to a PTA meeting with a signed petition to ask the Principle to request this. The D.O.T then has to do a review of the hazards and necessity of the need according to the state qualifications for the light at which time the review is completed and the necessity qualifies the intersection (safety of walkers, number of walkers) an installation of a light can be scheduled.
