Community Development will assign an Inspector to check for violations of the City’s Junk, Litter and Inoperable Vehicle Ordinance . The Inspector must be able to see visible signs that would deem the vehicle in question inoperable (flat tires, car parts missing, etc). Thank you for contacting us.
This blue Mustang with the broken rear window has been sitting in front of 2812 8th Avenue just east of 4th Street since last spring. The tarp that someone occasionally covers it with blows off and flaps around on the street. The car is too close to the intersection and with the tarp blowing out in the wind, line of sight and visibility is impaired for vehicular traffic attempting to cross the 8th Ave intersection. Not sure what can be done but it looks bad and is a traffic hazard.
Community Development’s Inspector has posted the vehicle with a 24 hour notice. This notice requires them remove to the vehicle from the street, repair the vehicle or store the vehicle in accordance with the ordinance. A schedule re-inspection of the vehicle will be done to insure compliance with this ordinance. If the vehicle has not been removed, the Inspector may have the vehicle impounded.
