As of yesterday, it seems that pedestrian passage in the fence between Metro Plaza (BJs and ShopRite) and the Newport Centre mall had been blocked with a new bit of chain-link fencing. There's still a gap over by Bed Bath and Beyond where individuals can squeeze through, but I was with a stroller, and had to go around the long way. Why isn't there an actual, wheelchair/stroller-friendly connection between Metro Plaza and the Mall?

By examining it Further, unfortunately it is not a walkway, It is a Parking lot of
Wells Fargo and Cars go in and out, It is due to safety of residents that it is blocked off.

Issue will be closed, The parking lot is Private Property.

Of course, now people are squeezing through a narrow gap in the fence, which also seems like a recipe for problems. Is there any plan to create some kind of a connection between the mall and Metro Plaza? Maybe a pedestrian walkway that extends Mall Drive E down to Metro Plaza Drive?
