Description
The sidewalks and crosswalk areas by the construction at the former A&P market have been poorly managed over the past couple months. First the sidewalk was closed for a couple weeks creating a long unnecessary detour long after the new sidewalk had been installed. Then the sidewalk closed signs laid on the sidewalk for a few weeks while no other work was being done on the sidewalks. Now the signs have been removed and plastic has been laid down at the crosswalk of Colonnade Way while the signal to cross Atherton isn't working. I've almost been hit by a car once at this intersection because of the defective signal. There has to be a better way of performing work at this site without creating unnecessary inconveniences on the pedestrians.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. If we would have known earlier that walking along Atherton was an issue we would have opened a dialog with the Developer then and informed the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation who owns the street and right of way that includes both sidewalks all along Atherton Street. The developer was required to make changes to the concrete at both of the corners for the new access into the shops. The plastic was placed to protect the concrete while curing we spoke to the developer and he should have removed it.
We are unsure why the pedestrian buttons do not work but this may be related to the new signal that is not yet operational or powered from what we understand. We will look into the pedestrian button not functioning. Thank you.
