I fully understand the city's leaf policy, and agree with it. The leaves in the street gutter do not belong to me, and they are not along my property, BUT, they will cause the channel under my driveway to clog and force rain runoff from the street into the side and under my house. The issue here is much larger than leaves in the street, but I've given up on the city providing any kind of long term solution.

Public Works has created a work order to have the drainage inlets checked around 1522 East Clinton. If any are stopped up, we will unclog them. The City of Huntsville no longer has the resources to perform the loose leaf collection service, even if the leaves did not originate from the resident's yard. Because of this, it is the resident's responsibility to sweep up and bag the leaves off of their easement as stated above by Huntsville Green Team. If you have any issues in the future with stopped up drainage please let us know, thank you.

I went ahead and cleaned the street, gutter and the driveway drainage channel. Last night, with the rain storm, water compromised the drain and ran down the driveway and into the side of my house. And with more storms in the forecast for this evening, I couldn't wait any longer for the city to take care of this. Just know that the east side of my house is beginning to rot from the street water that has been turned on it.

Good morning Mr. Sanders. We understand your concern in this matter. The City of Huntsville cannot maintain loose leaves on easements because that is your property. We only maintain city facilities located on easements, in your case the drainage inlets. If the inlets are not stopped up, there is nothing we can do. It is your responsibility to keep the easement clear of fallen leaves if you so choose. The crew we sent out to look at your inlets found none of them to be stopped up.
