This is not a new problem. Last year a reporter from "Whose got your back" interviewed me about the same problem and I said if the delivering person would ring the door bell many of these thefts could be avoided. I also said calling the Police is of no use as the damage has already been done, but of course the reporter left that out in his on-air commentary.

There is also an option to pick up your package at the local UPS store. I usually prefer to do this, especially around the holiday season.
