Unfortunately, our crew could not find a curb that looked like this on Mathis Mountain Rd. I apologize for the inconvenience, but would you be so kind as to supply us with an exact address? Thank you again for your assistance!
Thanks again. This is an areas where the heavy trailers were parked with the 60' concrete poles. The drive over curbs down the street were replaced 3-4 years back when the construction was complete.
Hey David, I just spoke with the supervisor concerning your issue. The work order is still open and you are still on the list to have this issue fixed. The reason it is taking awhile is because we have some other jobs still left to complete and the weather has not been prime for pouring concrete. The damage along the curb on Mathis Mountain Rd is cosmetic and the curb still functions properly which also forces us to work on higher priority jobs where the damage is functional. Please continue to be patient with us as we work as quickly as possible to complete outstanding work orders such as yours. If you would like to speak to a representative, please call Public Works anytime from 8am - 4pm, Monday through Friday at (256) 883-3944. Thank you David!
The city has been out for the past 2 weeks repairing damaged curbs up and down our neighborhood. The trucks have all left now and this requested and damaged section of curb was completely missed.
We are aware of this issue, and it's on this list of repairs. Cosmetic repairs will be fixed only after the more pressing issue are addressed. We thank you for being patient and using Huntsville Connect.
Being from a family of civil engineers and a AU graduate in a similar field; the city's response is not logical when they state curbs are only cosmetic. Almost every roadway asphalt failure in our neighborhood began with a curb failure which accelerated the resulting damage.
Curbs strengthen pavements. The confining of flexible pavements by concrete curbs improves compaction during construction and helps maintain the integrity of edges under traffic. The added thickness given to edges of concrete pavements by integral curbs increase strength and stiffness, reduce deflections induced by traffic loads, and therefore extends pavement life.
Thank you for reporting your service request to the City of Huntsville. Your issue has been handled and we are closing your request. If you need further assistance, please let us know.
