A traffic study was completed in 2016 for this intersection to investigate a 4-way stop sign, as requested. At the time in 2016, a four-way stop sign was not warranted and there would be more danger if installed.

While City staff continue to look at the intersection for improvements to safety, I spoke with the property manager of the building next to the intersection. There is an issue with sight lines particularly looking up the hill. This bush is a violation of zoning code and will be removed.

Please explain how a four way stop sign would cause more danger?

Again...a pure failure to grasp the manitude of this situation! You can post all the links you want but the link between effective goverment and hard working taxpayers are clearly not within your capacity! When my family or property is harmed by a vehicle I'll be sure to hold the City of New Haven legally responsible to the fullest extent!

This by far is the most ridiculous answer that has been given, I have lived in this area for years and the bush that you are trying to blame for the accidents is not the problem. The problem is people speeding up and down the hill, and also speeding down Russell St and not coming to a full stop (Rolling Stop). Its then to late and there lies your problem along with a lack of police presence in the area. Try looking into speed bumps along both roads if stop signs will not work. Stop signs seem to work all across the nation so I am just as confused as xyz as to why its more dangerous? People don't pay attention while driving in this area and the sight lines are not an issue its (speeding) and nothing else. You should contact the NHPD chief and ask to have speed traps done and install speed bumps on both roads. If people have to slow down for a speed bump before the intersection then there is less chance of collisions there. There is no study needed for this as its very clear. This is the 2nd time this year a vehicle has entered the yard shown in this picture, Im sure NHDot will wait until a vehicle enters the home and kills someone. If I were the homeowner I would sue the city because its a shame we pay our taxes and to the city to be told such a ridiculous thing a (Bush) is the problem.

Additional measures being put into place this morning include the temporary installation of a speed trailer - to display to approaching vehicles the posted speed limit vs their current speed. Also, a device is being erected to further study vehicular movements at this intersection, to determine what measures can be put into place to improve overall safety. Thank you for continuing to draw attention to this intersection.

Where is the tax dollars going that we are being told that a stop sign is more dangerous and a bush is the problem? The only real issue here is that people are speeding up and down Clifton St, Speeding down Russell St and not coming to a complete stop (Rolling Stop) and theres your accident. If stop signs cannot be used how about speed bumps before the intersection on both streets which will force everyone to slow down. Lack of police presence and speed traps has also been an issue in the neighborhood, put the two together and the problem is solved. No study needed for this as its obvious, and I have lived here for years there is no problem with any bush and sight lines. If things need to be put into place NHDOT should try talking to the residents in the area instead of coming up with this type of response.

Oh Please... like the city cares about our safety. How many years have we been trying to get the dirt bikes and quads off our blocks. We even give them specific addresses for the kids who are on them and they don't even bother to send out cops. Always with the excuses... never with a solution.

The fact that the other post is 3 months old and you've FAILED to understand the severity of this situation is a true testament to the empathy you Doug and the city have in regards to the citizens safety in this city! Your kids are not the ones threatened by 2 ton motorized projectiles coming through the fence and killing them as they play in the front yard that their parents pay taxes to the city on! You and your department are proof that government doesn't work for the people! I regret that my tax dollars helps fund such lack of respect, dismissals of concerns and blatant incompetence! You and your department have failed as a city municipality and as a city administrator your apathy is appalling and if you had any integrity you would save the tax payers a hefty unwarranted salary and resign immediately! Imagine your kids flinching at every squeal of a tire because of fear of car crashing into their house!
