Might be a better idea for the school to design and build (or have someone build) a rack and get the necessary city approval to install it at the sidewalk. That way the school would have more control over the size, shape, color, etc. and have it sized for children's bikes.
I think there used to be an actual form for requesting a bike rack for curbside areas. I can't find the form with google. Bike rack would be nice here. The closest city rack is half a block away on Whalley by the no-longer-there Delaney's. The city has historically installed racks for frequently-visited areas.
It looks like there is enough room to install a bike rack at this location but I"ll need to inspect the area first to be sure. I'll follow up with school and then update this SCF ticket.
