Description
The intersection at glascock and north King Charles really should be a 4 way stop. The traffic traveling on King Charles is often going too fast for people on glascock to comfortably turn onto King Charles.

I second this issue! This is also a terrible intersection for pedestrians -- as the sight distances are very poor, crosswalks don't line up with sidewalks, some places the sidewalk is missing to the corner, and the traffic is very fast. There is a bus stop at this corner and lots of foot traffic to the shopping center from the neighborhood. I'd love to see this intersection improved.

I'm also a resident and I walk/bike/drive through that intersection daily. The combination of poor visibility and high speed on King Charles make it very scary. Better control and/or lower speeds would be great for the neighborhood.

Yep, this intersection routinely sees congestion after school with bus and carpool traffic from Powell ES. We have tried to get a four way stop at NKC & Marlborough too but that was shot down due to a lack of required traffic as well.

I've referred this to our Public Works Department. When the staff has had a chance to respond I’ll post an update. Thanks for reporting.

Agreed! The traffic on King Charles travels way too fast past that intersection!

Totally agree that this is an issue. Thanks for reporting!

We will put the intersection of Glascock St. and N. King Charles Rd. in line for a multi-way stop evaluation. We will contact you with the results once the evaluation is completed.

I live on North King Charles and walk by this intersection every day; I completely agree with this request. I also believe there is merit for the Marlborough intersection to be a four way stop. Cars routinely build up speed on NKC, even during school hours (the Marlborough area includes a school speed zone).

Thanks, City of Raleigh. Many people here have expressed a very valid concern about pedestrian traffic at this intersection as well. I hope that your multi-stop evaluation is able to take walkers into consideration.

Has the evaluation been completed?
City of Raleigh
Still waiting on the traffic count data. This often takes 6 weeks or more because we need to measure traffic at a variety of times and days of the week.
Closed City of Raleigh
This intersection warrants a multi-way stop installation. This is on tomorrow's City Council agenda, once approved the signs will be installed by February 27.

Fantastic! Thanks.

Fantastic! Will there be any further discussion about how the crosswalks don't line up with sidewalks and how the sidewalk is missing to the corner along the north side of Glascock (currently functions as a turn lane)? Is the turn lane even necessary?

A roundabout like the other one on North King Charles would be a good way to keep traffic moving and yet slow it down as well.
David (Guest)
Yes - what about the disconnected sidewalk? With the pseudo-turnlane there is can be dangerous for pedestrians. I walk that section to the grocery store weekly.
Reopened Multi-ModalRDU
Putting in a 4-way stop doesn't fix the whole problem. Can we re-open this issue?
Neighbor (Guest)
This is a heavy pedestrian area - can we get some pedestrian improvements (like crosswalks or sidewalk extensions)?
City of Raleigh
We have sent the issues concerning crosswalks and sidewalk extensions to the Public Works Department, I will post an update once I hear from them.

New signage for all way stop was seen as of yesterday.

One of the 'stop bars' is painted in the crosswalk (unmarked).
