Is it only me who notices this? The hill/cliff behind the first olson dr building knocked down is strewn with garbage and debris. This area is now readily visible now that the building is gone. This is so depressing to see this area in this state. Why is nothing being done about it? If the city of Ansonia doesn't want to clean it up then make the property owners on lester st liable. Tell them to clean this up immediately or face a stiff penalty. If the owners don't have the means to do it then the city should help them. Am I the only one that cares about it?

If you are referring to blight conditions my suggestion would be for you to get used to the conditions in and around your area. Not to long ago driving around the corner of the area you speak of, I notice all of the Farrel & American Brass buildings are not even complying with the same laws home owners are forced to comply with when it comes to property profile cleanliness. Like many others mentioned, it would be far easier by Industrial example to let your property visually decay, let the city fine you and take you to court. You will then substantiate your cause for property decay based on non-equality by comparison to blight law conditions thus forming a new case law. Even though Industry may fall under a separate jurisdiction for compliance the stage is set for relations regarding health and safety factors that have been ignored in that town for over 20 years. Stay-tuned as a wake up call is pending.

If your not from Ansonia what is your problem.
If Oxford is not careful it will look like Ansonia in another 30 years or so based on how quick they are building. The problems here could be worse and can only be blamed on the economy and the power we have behind or administrative economic development capability. The only thing I can pick on is the sale of my home without getting into your ridiculous detail.
I almost had it sold but the buyers during inspection time were from out of town and did a tour of Ansonia's town center. Your somewhat correct. They decided to buy in Shelton instead. I know enough there is a buyer for everything so get a life and use another route if you don’t like a town going through a unpredictable rehab period.

Ansonia Neighbors (Guest)
Knowing we all had the day off today; 12 of us comprised of our neighbors, my husband and I, were having coffee on the deck this morning reading the below highlighted segments in what appears to be a heated forum. The last blog stands out the most with some good and bad points as we concluded. Sorry for our detail but everyone was grabbing the laptop.
“….get a few guys with black plastic bags, wheelbarrows and shovels etc and just clean the mess up….be glad to help clean the mess up myself. “ Consensus with the group, we were kind of confused with this idea. Some of us work two jobs at times located far from Ansonia just to meet taxes. This does not even mention the revised WPCA billing process or tax adjustment that may or may not come in the future due to mis-managed funding practices due to the Treatment Plant balance sheet. Volunteerism in the community is very important when it comes to social reasoning (little league, football, soccer etc….) but when it comes to a Public Clean Up Day we all felt we are being cheated based on that statement. There seems to be a level of redundancy in town law overseeing blight conformance when someone says plastic bags will need to substitute or aid of a paid Blight Controlled position in the city of Ansonia. What he cannot do our citizens will clean-up for him?
“Ansonia does not have issues beyond the point of no return. “
No agree we probably don’t. With 2 couples by our side living in the town for years they mentioned and felt things have a tendency to move to slow and identical issues keep coming up in budgets every year. Most towns we are from and is not fair to compare had instant resolve without the need to re-visit the issues affecting future planning. plan was Saved a lot of money and became an economically attractive counterpart for incoming business.
“I know the buildings aren't all that attractive, but to tell you the truth when your from here, you don't even see them after a while. “ This is very confusing to us sitting
here this morning. We translate this by saying, it is ok to leave my building or my house as is because my neighbors know how I am thinking and think just like me. With them thinking and accepting things just like I do it is ok to reveal the exterior of my building in a visually distressed manner. Most of us at the table know of the industrial area you are referring to as we have been living in Ansonia for 10-12 years and Man!!! It is pretty bad.
“As far as how Ansonia looks to people who aren't from here, or in Connecticut magazine or whatever, who gives a hoot. If you don't like it, don't come here.” This statement kind of reiterates are feelings above. That mentality actually caused us to loose some of our most valued neighbors in the past based on properties being reinvested into rents for some or unattractive neighbors moving in who are not conforming to city or maybe even federal citizenship laws.

Hey I am a Renter! (Guest)
I have been renting in Ansonia for 4 years now.
The rents are nice and cheep compared to other towns and changing that would hurt the rest of my family who are moving to Ansonia. Crime in the bigger cities is a big part of the reason. It is nice to see Ansonia gives up on our good entitlements helping with the money situation where in other valley towns it could take longer to get the same entitlement. My landlord who i dont see but once every 8 to 12 months does not care where i put my stuff or garbage which is a plus when I know the city will take care of it eventually. That is why I pay rent. This side of town it doent really matter because of all of the buildings match are rentals. I also have 3 seperate members of my family renting in 3 seperates homes in hilltop because the sellers could not to sell at a loss but chose to rent protecting the Latino based roots they truly want to protect on that side of town.
Its a special arrangement. You got to remember it is in the power of the numbers when it comes to renting or buying and culture based ownership. Buying expences are to dam high.

You mean Ansonia.
It will always be here along with most of my people who should be well established in all 4 corners of Ansonia by that time. Latino mayors are very popular in most towns I am from. You got to remember....it is all in the numbers as long as the cost of living remains super cheep in Ansonia.
Screw the fixin up part making things look pretty.
That will only cause our rents to go up and we are not getting all of it in our section checks.

' Ask them to keep their yards clean; the rest of the town does. "
Come to think of it, not all. As some other comments had mentioned above identifying one of the largest property owners in the city, The Farrell properties surely takes-the-cake for big time fines that are due to the city of Ansonia.
Over the years it could have added quite a sum of money at $100 dollars a day for the city just for its exterior portrayal. Is anyone bold enough to hit the go button on them or are they afraid they will finally leave for good in the coming years?
Equality is everything when you pretend to work in a Democratic way.

I guess some of the bloggers above were correct.
We as Ansonia have certainly missed the biggest eye sore as I needed to verify an earlier picture that was posted.....really sad...we can't just take our hammers to this one and a few of the others on the stretch:

How can one say the Band-Aid clean up of loose debris around the city of Ansonia is the solution behind the true Eye Sores which are represented by fixed dilapidated structures standing over 30-40 feet tall in the heart of our downtown?
You might as well have placed what you collected for garbage on clean-up day inside those disgusting Farrell and Ansonia Copper plants and called it a day.
Our extended family feel somewhat embarrassed this actual represents a part of our community.
