Description
This man is threatening my employees. He refuses to move and now my employees have no where to park. We have been reporting the aggressive nature of the homeless to OPD with no results. LIBBY LAND is taking over our businesses! Our clients refuse to come to our office and now my employees safety is at issue. When is LIBBY SCHAAF going to take action for the tax payers and businesses who support this city? The homeless don't pay taxes, they don't vote! LIBBY, you need to come down here and see this in person. not from your people or on the news!!! First hand, smell the stench, see the rats; and I mean the critters, not the homeless. DO SOMETHING, this is not going away.

Though this homelessness issue should be a CITY OF OAKLAND ISSUE and not criminalizing this unfortunate matter, the fact is the threatening of people, no matter how angry someone is or mental illness, I recommend you contact BOSS....BOSS is apparently supposed to manage these types of things. While you're in another beat than our BEAT 7X, we need to access COUNTY tools in order to manage what City of Oakland wont do.
BOSS is supposed to provide " Violence Prevention/Street Outreach". Since they've yet to be at one of my NCPC Beat 7X meetings as the chair, I plan on speaking to them about being at our September 15th meeting.
Here is the contact info for BOSS https://self-sufficiency.org/contact-us/
The person we did meet previously is a gentleman named Teslim Ikharo, JD, who is their Managing Director of Social Innovation.
What I recommend is you contact your NCPC Chair for your Beat, which can be located through the City of Oakland Website, and you type in your mailing address to identify it. I also think if you contact Annie Sloan at asloan@oaklandnet.com who is our Neighborhood Services Coordinator and who can at least direct you to where your meetings are held and who chairs them.
I also recommend like us, you contact BOSS because they're falling down a wee bit on this Street Outreach and Violent Prevention.
Thanks,

My name is Carol Wyatt. And as NCPC Chair this is POLICE BEAT 7x.
I am on the phone with County of Alameda on this matter. And while we don't want to criminalize this, we need to figure out other ways to assess and respond but since this is a violent, mental health matter, until we need to have a REAL COMMUNITY DISCUSSION, we need to determine:
Is this Police
Is this Homeless Services
Is This Mental Health.....
Frankly, it's all 3. But the immediate response says, since someone is threatening, please call the Police. Please email Beat7XReport@gmail.com. We will direct it to OPD and our softer needs issues. We want it to be reasonable but we need a plan to respond to this...Thanks,
In the longer-term, we need proper channels for the situations that our Beats and West Oakland Community is facing and we need real ACCOUNTABLE CHANGE.
So, please come to the NCPC Meeting next is September 15th at Willie Keyes Center, 3131 Union Street....our meetings start at 7pm.
