Community Development will assign an inspector to check the property for violations of the grass and weed ordinance. This ordinance only requires the cutting of grass or weeds over 8 inches in height and consume an abundance of the yard. We cannot require the trimming of trees, bushes, shrubs, ornamentals, ivy, poison ivy, oak or sumac. Thank you for contacting us.
This location is truly an eyesore. There are numerous others in this neighborhood. 3 on Woodridge St especially 5609. This is not a grass cutting issue, it is a quality of life issue. If a house has the grass cut but is still covered with trees, vines, bushes & weeds so the it is virtually surrounded and appears abandoned it is a blight on the neighborhood. Several of these blights have been this way for years and nothing is being done. They are getting worse and new ones are being added. We need to have our property values protected by our city government. We have a beautiful new school for our neighborhood but If nothing is done about these houses left in disrepair and overgrown shrubs the neighborhood will be destroyed. Community development needs to do a thorough investigation of this area and get these eyesore homes cleaned up
Community Development has a current notice issued to the occupant(s)/ owner(s) of this property for violations of the Grass and Weed Ordinance. A scheduled re-inspection of the property will be made upon the final date of the notice to insure compliance with this ordinance. Thank you for contacting us.
Please leave issue open. Can the final notice date be published here, so follow up can be monitored? What will be done if there is no response or compliance with the notice? Too many houses in this area are becoming problems just like this. We (the neighborhood and the city) need to stay on top of this issue to protect the neighborhood from any further decline. Please see my comment above for further thoughts on this issue. This house issue was reported on 8/24/16 and almost a month later, we still have this eyesore.
At the time of the re-inspection the grass was not cut. Further action is being taken at this time to insure compliance with this ordinance. This ordinance only requires the cutting of grass or weeds over 8 inches in height and consume an abundance of the yard. As stated earlier, we cannot require the trimming of bushes, shrubs, ornamentals, ivy's or trees, Thank you for contacting us.
I would like to leave this issue open until it is resolved. I am glad you are taking further action. For the issue to be closed the problem needs to be resolved and owner needs to be in compliance with the ordinance. When may we expect that?
Community Development cut this yard on the 20th of September and is closing out this issue. We cannot require the trimming of trees, bushes, shrubs, vines, ornamentals or any type of ivy.
