So just exactly where are these unfortunate folks supposed to go ?..the ones that you call " campers"?...where ??...to some or another one of the inane development projects that keep getting greenlighted by City Council ?..will they be housed in some idiotic "transit" village...or sleep on the floors of the "Uber Town" on Broadway ?
The issue isn't being ignored. It City policy. Libby just doesn't have the moral character to come out and say it. Last year this also occurred and the mayor's office wrote off the lack of enforcement to El Nino. Now, who knows. The Libby never came clean on that one either. But it is interesting that when Libby started allowing camping in the parks again Black Lives Matters seemed to give up their recall threat.
Tao, first of all it is illegal to camp in the parks but if the city is going to allow camping in the parks shouldn't they open the camping to everyone? As it is now, only a privileged few have access to parks to camp legally. Why isn't this open to everyone? Why doesn't Schaaf come out and say that this is public policy?
I have attached a photo so show that the camp has expanded since the original complaint was opened. The campers have been at it for almost two months now.
"Privileged" (? ?)..."few" !...give us a break...yeah...go ahead..."camp" in Snow Park...while some " privileged" homeless person takes a nice shower in your bathroom..hmmm
Tao, invite the homeless to live in your front yard at ur home. This is illegal. Parks r for the public, where children should be able to play, not pick up a syringe or step in feces.
Tao, if they are not privileged then why isn't everyone camping in the park? We have a lot of homeless in the city. Shouldn't other homeless be allowed to camp in the park? Why not set up a homeless encampment right downtown? Why not at city hall?
My position is that if camping is illegal then it should be illegal for everyone. If the law is being ignored by the city, then anyone should be allowed to camp there. Camping in the parks shouldn't illegal. I am sure if Libby announced that camping in the parks was legal there would be a lot more people taking advantage of the opportunity. I would be willing to bet people come from all over the country to camp in the park legally.
Tao, that's my solution, where's yours, I've been saying this solution for awhile now, even before I heard the Seattle one. The homeless r privileged in Oakland, they do things that r illegal and get away with it
