Description

Something is wrong with this intersection. I work in a building at 17th and Jefferson and my window looks right at it. In the past year I've seen multiple car crashes at this intersection (one just happened moments ago). A while back one of the cars involved flipped, so these are not small fender benders. I hear loud, screeching breaks regularly. I think there is an issue with the timing of the lights (the yellow is too brief?). Also, people driving down 17th into downtown from 980 tend to be going really fast. Also, there is no walk signal crossing 17th so I've seen some very near misses with pedestrians and cars. Someone is going to get seriously hurt here. Someone from the city needs to look into this intersection design and why it is consistently so dangerous both for motorists and pedestrians.
