Having a problem all over New Haven with these street gangs on bicycles. Have reported in my own area of Beaver Hill (NH), and it has been reported Downtown, Westville, etc.

I watch the same 13-15 year old kids walking to dwellings instead of going to school. I saw three of the ten kids from last night walking home at 09:15. More troubling is that these kids have a strategy to get around police deterrence. Last night Hamden PD patrolled the street once in search of the group. Instead of going back to Dixwell's NE section directly, they went back to the development at 106 Cherry Ann St., then proceeded to leave one by one throughout the night. One kid actually ran intermittent patrols down the street between 22:00 and 23:00 hrs. Without intervention from truancy officers or law enforcement this community is under siege.

This issue needs to be re-categorized under POLICE issue.

Not sure about Hamden, but New Haven has only a couple of truancy officers - a complete joke!! No matter what is currently in the headlines regarding race and reporting suspicious activity, I'm in agreement with "If you see something, say something." Keep reporting here on this thread, and report illegal activities to the police as warranted. Keep sharing their hangouts and hideouts publicly so that all citizens are aware.

The winter has slowed the activity of these local youth. The NHPD did their best to counteract the issue. A thank you goes out to Lt. Howell and his team.
